1. Print out these dinosaur pictures (or find any other onShow more the same topic so that they resemble each other). I decided to pick dinosaurs as every kid is usually fascinated by them.
2. Act out the activity yourself first as it's vital for the students to understand what they need to do. Pretend to be describing one of the pictures and tell them to write down your name and take some notes of what I'm saying. Emphasise that they DO NOT need to write whole sentences, just some facts, numbers, adjectives.
I wrote this on the whiteboard as an example:
JULIA 3 dinosaurs 4 legs log neck 2 volcanos many clouds some flying
3. Call out one student, give them one of the pictures and ask to describe it. Everybody listens to them carefully and jots down some words.
4. The same happens with other pictures. You can even find a picture for each student in your class. (unless you have 50:))
5. Once they finish, collect all the pictures and now you have two ways of completing this activity depending on their level:
EASY: Call out one of the narrator's name and show the class 2 pics (only one of them is theirs). They need to guess which one it is, looking at their notes.
MORE ADVANCED: Pin all the pictures on to the wall/whiteboard and students label each picture with a certain student's name. Or you can also show them one picture at a time and ask whose it is.
P.S. If you have just a few students in the class or they are all extremely smart, you can even skip writing down the info and settle for just listening. Also, it doesn't have to be dinosaurs. Pick the topic that your students are fascinated by!
