I'm a stocky athletic Aquarian with a penchant for fun and topical debate that likes to be goofy and who loves putting a smile on the face of others
It matters how I look, I dress for the mood I am in. I might be in a classic suit and tie one day and the next its a cravat with cap or maybe what some would identify as the indie- rockabilly-punk style favored by the likes of Clash, juxtaposing the elements of military wear with some repurposed bohemian threads found in a thrift store. I started collecting 70's style cowboy shirts recently and I love how I feel when I wear a Utility Kilt. Visiting thrift shops in search of that treasure only known to me and attending galleries and museums or a local gathering of liked minded folks where topical debate is explored in a positive way fuels my soul. I have very little time for art that i don’t like. I was once an accomplished Rugby player but I had to retire attributed to injury so I now play less aggressive sports in the form table tennis and badminton. Oh and I should say I am an accomplished horse rider. I studied art and design but never really pursued it as a career option, however I have an insatiable appetite for visual art where stylistically I lean towards the offerings of Basquait, Roshenberg, Dine, Saudeck, Chistian Marclay, Goldsworthy, Braq and Picasso
Music punctuates my every day; my journey will include artists like Nick Cave, Capt Beefheart, The Kronos Quartet, The Pixies, Sonic Youth or the soothing sounds of John Martyn, Laurie Anderson, Chet Baker or Nick Drake. I am big on; world music, jazz, soul, funk, reggae, dub, indie, EDM and fairly knowledgeable when it comes to roots, folk and classical. Its what I do so expect an encyclopedic knowledge of contemporary music. Please note I am not talking "pop music" although I do love the Beatles and some of the classics
Film is a huge passion but I am not easily satisfied, I have no time for action thrillers, horror films (unless it is Guillermo del Toro) or much of that Hollywood poop. I look for substance and great performances, something unusual and gritty or slightly surreal or avant-garde. Some call in Art House Film or Theatre, whatever tag you want to give it, I like something that captures the imagination. This year I have loved the genius Lars von Triers's “NYMPHOMANIAC 1&2” and Linklaters "Boyhood" (an astounding achievement) and last year films like “Dallas Buyers Club” and "Her" were great mainstream films. David Lynch, Mike Leigh, Ken Loach and Park Chan-wook are some of my favorite directors. Oh and im a sucker for some good comedy and love the goofy styling’s of Seth Rogan
