• О себе:Mind sports academy The mind sports academy was founded in 2013 by Mindsports International. It was set up with the ethos that for too long, the world of sport has been limited to those born with the physical ability to partake in activities which rely on physical fitness, to the exclusion of those whose strengths lie within the mental domain rather than the physical one. Mind sports are sports which both test and nurture several aspects of a person’s mental capability through the medium of games. Games such as (though not exclusively); • Scrabble, which challenges a person’s ability to not only form words using random letters, but also the most effective application of those words so as to not only remove their own tiles but to maximise upon their score, in doing so, players improve their vocabulary, their memory and their language skills. • Chess, a game of tactical thinking and forward planning, long since believed to be played only by the intelligent, however, studies have shown that in actual fact chess can be the cause of a higher IQ, as well as improving creativity and memory, it has even been shown to ward off the onset of Alzheimer’s and dementia! • Magic: The Gathering, a game with more benefits and perks than any other card based game around! MTG nurtures the development of team work, basic strategy development, logic skills, social skills, basic maths and reading skills. It has also been shown to have a positive effect on developing study skills as it requires strategizing about both game play and creating one’s own deck in which to play with. Mind sports allow both children and adults, from any walk of life, regardless of their physical ability (or impairment), geographical location or socio-economic status to partake in sports which require nothing more than a minimal mental dexterity and prowess, abilities which can be both learned and honed whilst partaking in the sport itself. The purpose of the academy is to unify those who enjoy mind sports into a worldwide community, a community filled with enthusiasts of both the games themselves and the benefits from them. We feel there should be both reward and recognition from these events and we have developed a structure for doing just that. Our mind sports events, which are broadcast on our very own web TV channel, happen all over the world and include thousands of GBP in prizes.
